The Senior Systems Engineer is a motivated and well-organized individual with a passion for working across technical disciplines to develop compelling products and platforms that involve innovative technology and solving complex problems. This position requires an individual who has expertise working with early technology paths; ability to work collaboratively with non-technical and technical partners; experience managing system maturation, requirements and respective risks; and focus on execution while providing clear and effective communication to remove barriers across the entire team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the systems integration of subcomponents/modules into the MediView platform from a requirements and testing perspective.
  • Drive development of system requirements to create new VR/MR/AR experiences, and advance technologies necessary to create product architecture that can deliver these requirements.
  • Facilitate and work with engineering teams to identify, debug, and resolve integration issues.
  • Participate in risk management and review to identify and define appropriate risk controls.
  • Define and document system integration, changes and process in adherence to regulatory protocols (FDA design controls).
  • Engage cross-functionally with other engineers, stake holders, and program managers to develop concepts that advance the entire product pipeline (hardware, software, integration, infrastructure, and applications).
  • Develop and execute system integration test plans to validate functionality, performance, and safety.
  • Support system verification and validation activities.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education and/or Experience –
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or similar discipline preferred.
  • Five or more years of systems experience with medical device or other regulated industries. (Experience in the finance industry does not meet our requirements.)
  • Experience with requirements management, design controls, documentation, and medical lifecycle.
  • Experience working across technologies such as medical imaging, DICOM, C#, Unity, and Visual Studio.
  • Prior experience working in Virtual Reality (VR), Mixed Reality (MR), Augmented Reality (AR) is a plus.
  • Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. This role requires an above-average knowledge of Microsoft Office. Experience working with medical imaging such as CT/Ultrasound/MRI preferred. Experience with localization/navigation technologies such as electromagnetic, electro-potential or optical.
  • Language Skills – Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to management or business prospects. Ability to interact clearly and effectively, in both writtenand oral communication, with supervisor, clients,staff, vendors, and external partners, etc.
  • Mathematical Skills – Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Other Qualifications - Valid driver’s license is required. Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced, tech startup environment where change is a constant and roles and tasks can be ambiguous at times.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the individual must be able to remain in a stationary position for 90% of the time while operating their computer and performing office work. The individual needs to occasionally move about inside the office. They must be able to exchange accurate information with customers and others in the office while interacting. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the individual is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. The individual frequently works in a controlled climate.May be in clinical or hospital environments where health may be at risk due to exposure from patients that may have infectious diseases.
