Position Summary
XII Medical is seeking a hands-on, highly motivated Electrical Engineer to join our growing team. This role will contribute directly to the design, development, and testing of innovative medical device systems supporting next-generation sleep apnea therapies.
As part of a small, fast-moving team, you will work across the full product lifecycle—from concept through development and verification—requiring strong technical depth, attention to detail, and a willingness to take ownership.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Development
- Design, develop, and iterate on electrical systems and components for implantable or external medical devices
- Create schematics, perform circuit design, and support PCB layout and review
- Contribute to system architecture, including integration with firmware and mechanical components
- Evaluate components and technologies to support performance, reliability, and scalability
Prototyping & Testing
- Build, debug, and test prototypes in a hands-on lab environment
- Develop and execute test plans to evaluate system performance, reliability, and safety
- Troubleshoot electrical and system-level issues and implement effective solutions
- Analyze test data and document results clearly and accurately
Product Development & Quality
- Support verification and validation (V&V) activities in alignment with design controls
- Contribute to technical documentation, including design specifications, test protocols, and reports
- Ensure work meets high standards for quality, traceability, and reproducibility
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet clinical, regulatory, and user needs
Collaboration & Execution
- Partner closely with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineering, clinical, and operations
- Communicate progress, risks, and solutions clearly and proactively
- Operate with a high degree of ownership in a small team—balancing independent work with collaboration
Operational Ownership
- Take initiative to identify challenges, improve processes, and drive work forward
- Manage multiple priorities and timelines with strong attention to detail
- Maintain a high standard of professionalism, collaboration, reliability, and accountability
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- 3–6+ years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in medical devices or a regulated industry
- Experience with circuit design, schematic capture, and PCB development
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, and debugging electronic systems
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently in a small, fast-paced environment
Preferred
- Experience with implantable or wearable medical devices
- Familiarity with low-power design, analog/digital systems, and signal processing
- Experience working within design controls and regulated environments (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485)
- Exposure to system integration (hardware + firmware)
- Experience supporting verification and validation (V&V) activities
