Position Summary

XII Medical is seeking a highly motivated and patient-focused Senior Sleep Support Specialist to support the clinical adoption and successful execution of our Hypoglossal Nerve Stimulation (HGNS) Therapy across clinical trials and future commercial programs. This field-based role serves as a critical clinical resource for physicians, sleep centers, clinical staff, and patients throughout the continuum of care, helping ensure exceptional patient outcomes and successful therapy implementation.

The Senior Sleep Support Specialist will partner closely with investigators, clinicians, clinical research teams, Field Clinical Engineering, and Therapy Development & Implementation teams to provide expertise in patient selection, therapy activation, titration, optimization, troubleshooting, and ongoing patient support. This individual will play a key role in supporting feasibility and pivotal clinical trials while helping establish best practices that support future commercialization efforts.

This role extends beyond traditional therapy support and offers the opportunity to contribute to the evolution of XII’s HGNS Therapy through clinical insight, field feedback, investigator collaboration, and participation in future commercialization initiatives.

Location & Assignment Expectations

This position is expected to be based primarily in Australia, for a minimum of one year, to support ongoing feasibility and pivotal clinical trial activities. Candidates may currently reside in Australia or elsewhere, including the United States, provided they are willing and able to relocate to Australia for the duration of the assignment.

The length of the assignment may extend beyond one year based on clinical trial progress, business needs, and future commercialization activities. As XII Medical expands its global footprint, additional international travel and geographic flexibility may be required.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Support & Patient Care

  • Serve as a clinical expert and trusted resource for investigators, sleep physicians, sleep laboratories, clinical staff, and patients.
  • Support patients throughout the HGNS therapy journey, including activation, titration, troubleshooting, optimization, education, and long-term therapy management.
  • Assist clinicians in developing and implementing therapy best practices that improve patient outcomes and therapy adoption.
  • Support sleep studies, therapy optimization activities, and related clinical workflows as needed.

Clinical Trial Support

  • Support feasibility, pivotal, and post-market clinical studies as assigned.
  • Partner with clinical research teams and Field Clinical Engineering to ensure consistent and effective therapy implementation across study sites.
  • Assist with protocol execution, investigator training, and site support activities.
  • Identify and proactively address clinical and operational challenges that may impact study success while helping maintain high-quality patient care and protocol compliance.

Therapy Expertise

  • Provide expertise in all aspects of post-implant HGNS therapy management, including:
  • Therapy Activation
  • Therapy Titration
  • Reprogramming and Optimization
  • Troubleshooting
  • Awake Testing
  • Drug-Induced Sleep Endoscopy (DISE)
  • Nasendoscopy-assisted therapy optimization
  • Long-term patient follow-up and therapy management
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on XII’s HGNS Therapy and contribute clinical insights that support product development, therapy optimization, and future commercialization efforts.

Training & Education

  • Train physicians, sleep technologists, and clinical staff on therapy workflows and best practices.
  • Support development of educational materials, training programs, and clinical best practices.
  • Participate in investigator meetings, scientific conferences, training events, and internal knowledge-sharing activities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Clinical Affairs, Research & Development, Regulatory Affairs, Therapy Development & Implementation, and Field Clinical Engineering teams.
  • Share field insights that support therapy advancement, organizational learning, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner effectively with colleagues across geographies, cultures, and healthcare systems.

Qualifications

Preferred

  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) credential or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in sleep medicine, including substantial experience as a practicing Sleep Technologist in a sleep clinic, sleep laboratory, or related sleep care environment.
  • Strong understanding of CPAP therapy management and titration protocols.
  • Strong organizational, clinical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including frequent overnight support activities associated with sleep studies, clinical investigations, or physician training.
  • Must be able to satisfy hospital, clinic, and healthcare system credentialing requirements as needed.

Preferred

  • Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), Clinical Sleep Educator (CSE), or similar sleep medicine certification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting Hypoglossal Nerve Stimulation (HGNS) therapy across the post-implant continuum of care, including activation, titration, troubleshooting, reprogramming, optimization, and patient follow-up.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, healthcare, engineering, or related discipline.
  • Experience scoring and interpreting polysomnography (PSG) studies and utilizing PSG software, EMR systems, and related sleep medicine technologies.
  • Strong presentation, communication, training, and relationship-building skills.
  • Deep knowledge of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) pathophysiology, diagnosis, treatment options, and long-term patient management.
  • Experience supporting clinical trials in a medical device environment.
  • Experience supporting sleep physicians, otolaryngologists, and multidisciplinary care teams.
  • Familiarity with Drug-Induced Sleep Endoscopy (DISE), nasendoscopy, and advanced therapy optimization techniques.
  • Prior experience in a field-based clinical support role.
  • Experience working across diverse cultures, international healthcare environments, and multiple healthcare systems.

Travel Requirements

  • Approximately 65% travel, including domestic and international markets, as needed.
